I got my schedule today but I got a issue kinda…?

1st hour Desktop Publishing

2nd hour American Government

3rd hour Environmental Science AP

5th hour Geometery

6th hour 12 English

7th hour World Lit

My first issue is my first hour I already took that class twice and it was sooo boring and I already know everything due to taking it twice so I’m working to get out of it. I want to take a class that will make my GPA go up, should I retake a class I got a D in last year that I know I could get an A in, or should I take a course I have never taken before?

My 2nd issue is I’ve never been in an AP class, I just took it because it was the only class I could still get a credit for that was interesting in my eyes. What should I expect and will it be hard?

Also I’m worried about Geometry because in middle school I was so bad at angles and such, is there an easy way to learn it? I wish I could stick to Algebra but if I did that I’d end up one credit short…

If you have taken Desktop Publishing twice already it seems weird they would even let you take it again. At my high school we could only get credit once for a class. Also in my high school we could not retake a class we passed. You need to talk to your guidance councelor and se if you can change your schedule if you are feeling unhappy with it. I took AP environmental science and it was hard but fun. I had to do a lot of labs and put in a lot of effort and time. I am not going to lie, it may be hard. The AP test at the end is extremely hard but you can usually get college credit for it if you get a 3 or higher on it. You are scored on a scale of 1-5. The AP test grade does not really matter and you get the scores in July so most high schools don’t factor it into the average for the year. Geometry is very hard for me and chances are it could still be hard for you. Make sure you become familiar with your teacher and his/her hours so that if you need extra help you can go to them and get it. Don’t be embarassed to get help, chances are a lot of people are getting extra help. Good luck.

The best thing to do would be to talk to your guidance counselor about it. He / She can help you figure the schedule out.

With the AP class… the work tends to be harder. If you begin school in Sept. they work at a much faster pace, since you need to cover all the material by May, not June. There is a college level test at the “end” of the course (May) that some school require you to take if you take the class. The test is hard and probably a little different the you are used to. Here is the CollegeBoard link to the Environmental Science AP test page. http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_envsci.html?envsci This page has all the information about the class, including a topic outline, practice questions, and a breakdown of the exam questions and scoring.
