You sound like an intelligent girl. Four pre AP classes is a lot.

The question to ask yourself is:

Am I better off where I will learn only a little or in a class that is a lot where I will learn a great deal more?

You have to answer that question yourself. As a retired High School teacher I am rooting for you to go into one direction but you need to make the decision yourself.

I think you should switch to pre-AP geometry. I’ve taken honors math the past 3 years of junior high so I kinda know what it’s like. But not AP, just honors. It’s definately a lot more work. And homework. It’s extremely rare that you get under an hour a night of math homework. But it usually doesn’t take too much longer than an hour. Since you’re already in 3 other pre-AP classes, it may be hard to finish all the homework. Especially if you have lots of activities, etc. after school. But if you know how to manage your time well, I think you’ll be OK. The material you cover in the pre-AP class probably won’t be much harder than a normal class, but just at a lot faster pace so you learn more. At least that’s the way it is at my school. Impossible? That’s not even in a AP student’s vocabulary. Stick with the lower level math. Your a freshman. Just try to get the feel of the school before you go moving around. By the way, you have a huge upper hand! Being friends with upperclassmen is a huge plus. Don’t judge sophomores that are in geometry, maybe they aren’t good in math. It doesn’t mean they are slackers. Your at an average level, don’t try to act like your better than upperclassmen. We hate that.

If you have any plans at all of going into college, and it sounds like you are a candidate, you should take as many AP classes as you can. Universities are so overcrowded that the AP classes may make the difference between acceptance or rejection. Good luck and stay away from those slackers.
