How do I get my hands on a school district’s pay scale? Some districts have it online, but not this one.?

I am at a teacher in the process of transitioning from one school district to the next, both in the same county. It’d be nice to know if accepting the job will mean less pay, and I’d like to know this before I go to Human Resources to find the contract. Like I said in the original question, some school districts post their scales online. I’m having a hard time locating this particular ones. Any help would be great.

See if you can get the minutes or records of the school board meeting where the last teachers contract was adopted. Or call the teachers union in the new district. You current union should be able to refer you to their rep.

I’m not sure about your state, but in mine every school in the same county pays according to the same scale. And you said your new school is in the same county, right? But if it is different, just call. It’s ok to say you are accepting a job in their district and want to know what your salary is. That is perfectly reasonable. Plus, they can’t not tell you what you’ll be making.

Call and ask them. Say that you are doing a survey and you’d like copy of their collective bargaining agreeement, is it possible to stop by and pick one up? If they ask your name, well, you’ll have to deal with that. Maybe you can get a friend to make the call.
