I always try to make like a little “outline” per paragraph, just takling about the main topic. If it’s a 5 paragrahp persuasive essay (I’m assuming, since that’s what we write most, but this might not help :-\), then your opening should be attention grabbing. The middle three paragraphs should each be a reason on why or why not you support the given topic. The last paragraph should sum things up, and it doesn’t have to be that long, only like 2-3 sentences. Also, the biggest tip I have is to avoid using ‘I’ and ‘me’ or any other first person pronouns, because they weaken the essay. Hope this helps & best of luck as a sophmore 🙂

make a quick skeletal outline. Develop a good attention getter. Decide what you want to say. Then write it out. Let your brain kinda work a little ahead of you in thought and you should be able to get it done if it is a short essay.

Make a few important statements about your topic in the first paragraph, then with the second paragraph, elaborate on those topics, explain them in greater detail (proving any points you may have) If you need it to be more than one paragraph that is ok. Then with the final paragraph, simply revert back to the first paragraph with a conclusion.

Simple form example:

1st Paragraph-

Make up is part of our social culture.

People have been wearing makeup for centuries, but for different reasons.

2nd Paragraph-

Makeup in Egypt was meant for religious purposes. Later in the U.S. it became more of a vanity issue.

3rd. Paragraph-

People have different reasons for wearing makeup, I personally feel…..blah, blah, blah.
