The best way to make a good impression is to “Act” like you already are popular. Be confident in yourself!

If you want to make friends, take the initiate and introduce yourself to people you want to meet.

One thing to remember is that most the kids who are “Popular” in high school, did not necessarily have the most accomplished careers afterward. Some of the people that go back to their high school reunions as a “Success” were the “Nerds” that no one wanted to talk to in High School. So no matter what happens you will be fine.

Just have faith in yourself and if someone does not want to be your friend,know that it is their loss!

i am having the same problem rite now. and i am almost a senior in high school. making a best friend is very hard sometimes, especially for me. i do not fit into any “cliques” and i attract “loserish” [no offense] people a lot too. i dont feel confident enuf to talk to the popular people in school and even tho i have friends i dont have many CLOSE friends. i think what u shud try to do is to get someone u like and try to hang out with them a lot. ask if they r doing anything over the weekend and make plans. hopefully u guys get along good and u mite end up finding a best freind. good luck

Well, generally, freshmens aren’t very popular. You’re at the bottom of the foodchain, so prepare for crap from upperclassmen.

Join clubs, be outgoing, laugh, be SMART, hang around with a good group of people. Don’t act prissy and dumb; trust me, you won’t get much respect (or make more friends). Do NOT get caught up in drama – this is a MUST. It will screw over your grades and your self esteem; everything backfires.

Bottomline: Be unique and be yourself.

I like most of the answers I’ve read that you already have.

I’d add: remember that you already have your own interests, your own strengths, your own looks. If you rely on those, not on how many people crowd around you…you will find that more people will want to know what it is that is making you happy, what it is that interests you, and no matter what your looks are, they will want to be around you.

It may take a little time…don’t rush in! Relying on yourself is the coolest way to be.

Run for either Freshmen Class President or something like that. If you win, or at least get your name out there, you will almost guarantee yourself four years of being popular.

Let other people talk about themselves and dont just talk about yourself. If you seem more interested in other people they will seem more interested in you.

Dont follow other people around all the time since it annoys other people. Show them that you are interesting enough to be followed around as well.

Have a great attitude.

Popularity is stupid. You make friends with your “friends” who WANT to be popular!

Talk to everyone. Be nice, in general. Be classy, be polite, and walk tall. Smile. A lot.
