I love to write. And that’s what you need to do. Love it. Then it should come to you easily. Grammar and spelling mistakes don’t really take place in a writers agenda, it’s the story, the passion to express yourself through writing. You can fix your mistakes with a dictionary. Good luck and have fun!

Practice, practice, practice. Reading lots of books will help you get a feel for what good writing should look and sound like. Talk to your teacher and ask for suggestions. Don’t assume you are way behind everyone else in your class. They all may be feeling exactly the way you are. The more you write, the better you will get. Take your teacher’s suggestions to heart. Rewrite things and have the teacher look over the rewrites. You say you are willing to work hard so you should do just fine. If you are struggling with your writing, the hard work will pay off.

Greetings! Many people jump into an essay class and find it is way over their heads. There are lower level English classes that focuses on grammar. I would strongly suggest you go for a class like that. Actually, most colleges have a placement exam for English and Math and you have to pass that exam in order to enroll in the upper level classes.

Also, I would strongly go back and think hard about all of the words you say on a daily basis and learn how to write them correctly (I’m for im, for example, because for ‘cuz, I’ll for ill,

soooo, for so). I know that I sound nit-picky, but your college

professor will point it out and knock your score down.

I am glad you are planning on working hard to improve. If you stick with that, you will improve.

I don’t want to sound like I’m condescending you, but I want you to do well.

Good luck and take care.

Ultimately, writers learn their craft through practice, and Yahoo! Answers is a good place for this. Choose from the vast assortment of questions, think about them, and write short essays in response. Avoid the quirky styles that are common here, aiming for the clean expository style that your teachers will require.

There are two small books that will help you, and at least one of them will probably be either suggested or required when you take Composition I in college: “Elements of Style” by Strunk and White; and “on Writing Well” by William Zinsser. Far from being the dull, dry works that most students expect, these books are written with wit and flair and exemplify the standards that they promote.

Welcome aboard, fellow writer. This train has been lonely of late.

Most schools offer a writing/journalism class as a course in high school. Go to your counselor and ask him/her if there is a class of that kind and if it’s possible for you to be enrolled. I took a journalism class last year and it was a lot of fun, and now I feel more skilled as a writer.

To be a good writer, you should first live your life to its fullest. Experience is the best source of information and inspiration. My advice, go places, meet people, read books, and always jot down interesting ideas or even words. Put these together in good harmony and viola! not just essays but wonderful stories for others to read and re-live! good luck!
