HELP! Could a misspelled name in school bring problems?

Ok my sister’s name is kylie but we just found out, on her birth certificate, that her name is spelled kylee! She is a senior in high school and is wanting to know if it will bring her any problems if she keeps writing it like that? (she doesnn’t want to change it because everyone, including teachers, spell it kylie, and she doesn’t want to start spelling it “kylee” because everyone would be asking why untill now!) Next year she will be going to collage, she will have the right name on her high school certificate but will she have problems for not having the right spelling on her highschool grades and records????

(she found out when she was going to get her drivers license and took out her certificate)

If she has been spelling her name that way ever since she learned to spell her name and has always believed that was the way to spell it she should have no problem. She is not trying to defraud anyone it is a simple mistake.

It would be a simple matter to contact the clerk of court in the county she was born and file an affidavit stating the circumstances and get a corrected birth certificate.

The cost for this is quite nominal. The first step would be to call the County (where she was born) vital statistics office(records of birth/death). They may be able to handle the whole thing over the internet if it is a larger county or by mail.

You should contact the State Office of Vital Records in the state where she was born, and find out how to change the birth certificate. Nearly all states allow these type of corrections to be made. It’s a very common problem and is usually very easy to correct. What the real problem is, is that now her driver license and (probably) her social security card also have the name spelled wrong, so legally her name -is- Kylee. By getting the birth certificate changed, you can also change the Social Security card and driver license.

you could restoration the subject via going on your extreme college’s workplace and telling a paintings rigidity member that your call seems to be misspelled interior the college’s records. according to risk your first call is so long that they chosen to drop the final letter by way of loss of area on identity taking part in cards and varieties (or maybe no longer). middle-college records have little or no longer something to do with college purposes, so do no longer difficulty approximately those.

For formal and legal documents she should use her legal name with the legal spelling.

However, when writing to friends and family or any informal setting, she may use any name/spelling she wants.

I’m pretty sure it will not bring any type of problem….it is good that she found out about that before she went off to college though. That happened to me also.
