Do you know where I could find national recommendations for second and third grade reading lists?
I am looking for primary sources for a paper on children’s literature. I am looking at the local level, but I was curious if anyone knew of a national list of recommended literature for these grades.

National standards can be found at the National Council of Teachers of English webpage at:
http://www.ncte.org/about/over/standards/110846.htm
They don’t have a booklist on that page, but there is a book available with it in their store:
http://www.ncte.org/store/books/literature
Reading Recovery Council also has some lists:
Last, but certainly far from least, check out the Dept of Education website. In teacher resources under Language Arts they have several recommendations:

Specifically, try the Reading Planet area.
