Can someone really smart answer this very important question?

Ok I was in Grade 10 (it’s summer right now), I have worked my *** off the whole year especially for English because I’m from Iran and I got a good mark but it’s summer right now and my parents made me to go to summer school for preview of English 11 and this really angers me. Wasting one month of my summer for a preview? what am I supposed to do? Should I rebel and tell them what? They won’t listen to anything I said. Is there something really smart I can say? I have karate, I want to go out with my friends and hang out but don’t have any time for all of this because of a preview course. I don’t need it and the teachers said too himself. I’m really sad and angry right now because I thought summer was good for me since I got great marks the whole year. The other kids in the class are the failures who did’n’t pass the course but I did.

Is there something smart I should do to get out of this stupid school?

If you summer school teacher agrees you don’t need it, ask if he can give you all your assignments or exams all at once. Then you can finish everything you were supposed to have done a lot earlier and prove to your parents that you don’t need this kind of thing anymore (maybe they’ll remember that next summer). And since you have finished every assignment already, there’s no reason for you not to be able to go play.

Alternatively, if you think your parents are the type who will listen to reason from your teacher, you can arrange a parent/teacher conference where your teacher can explain to them why you don’t need to be in summer school.

The only thing I can suggest is to get that teacher to put it in writing that you don’t need the summer course. I’m sure the teacher will be happy to help if you explain VERY nicely that your parents are just overly concerned about your progress and don’t really understand what kind of students need the course.

Then maybe your parents will take you out of the course and put you in some other, harder, course… but that’s a chance you’ll have to take.

Best of luck. Just act mature about it, and don’t complain about not getting to hang out with your friends…that’s just silliness to parents.

Would there be some way that your parents could talk to the person teaching the summer class? My friend teaches summer school and all of the students in her classes failed last year. Maybe the teacher could let your parents know the situation. Sometimes parents listen to authority figures before they listen to their teens. I wish you luck.

I agree with the first 2 answerers. You need to talk to the teacher and ask whether you really need to do the course at all.If not maybe hecould talk to your parents.
