I would think the summer school would only allow the student to overcome what happened as a result of failing 6th grade, so she could enter 7th grade with her classmates.

Something doesn’t sound right. If a person in 6th grade can’t do the work how in the heck can they do 7th grade work? and now they are going to 8th grade, I would be worried about my child if that happened to them. think about what would happen if they don’t do well , what grade will they go back to?
It looks good on paper when a person skips a grade but does it look good on their report card, that is the question.
