The images of Washington are a powerful national symbol & irange from the highly realistic to the VERY idealistic.

Emmanuel Leutze’s 1851 painting of George Washington Crossing the Delaware (original piece) was NOT painted in the U.S. but in Germany. Leutze’s intentions had more to do with the spirit of freedom & revolution than any historical reality.

Americans tend to see the images more as historical documents than works of art & many envision Washington based solely on how he appears in paintings.

He had to. Back then they were had to be really sharp. So most likely yes he showed up to every meeting in full uniform.

he did this because he was a very serious and honorful sort of person. Also the times in which he lived in was a very serious time. Evertbody wanted due respect and honor, and uniforms show that back then.
