There are two reasons:

Safety of the students.

Cleaning the wheel marks can cause undo janitorial duties which presents a cost to the school district.

Check the statistics! Do you have any idea how many kids have been hurt/killied by wearing these in unsafe places. I agree let kids be kids. I have 3. Relax there is a new alternative , removable wheels for tennis shoes. Besides school isn’t the best place for skating .We send our kids to school to get an education and not in skating. They can learn that in their free time. Also the school can also be held responsible for any accidents that happen while a child is wearing them.

It’s because it’s considered a hazard, and some kids are not coordinated enough to use them and get hurt, there have been a couple of kids who broke their ankles and their parents tried to sue the company… the school is basically baning them for liability purposes if the kid was using them and fell on the sidewalk or whatever the school would be held responsible.

Do you have kids? Like the last person said, clean up costs and above all, it’s a safety issue. It’s the same as letting kids wear roller blades to school- kids are supposed to walk, and go to school to learn. It’s not a skate park.

Plain & Simple – SAFETY!!! Supermarkets and retail stores are doing the same. In school for instance, if a child is not paying attention or another kid is horsing around near a staircase…guess what – down they go and it could be very serious. As a parent, who would you blame – honestly???

I just read the other day that a lot of kids are hurting themselves on them. I think it said in 2006 that close to 1200 kids got hurt on them and one died but it didnt give specifics.

I believe I saw somewhere that there has been a rash of injuries since those shoes came out. Not just typical bumps and bruises, but broken limbs, cracked heads, and even broken necks. It’s not dumb, it’s safe.

it’s because, if they allow it at school and a stupid kid trys a stunt and crashes. if they get hurt, like a broken bone, then the school can be held liable. that’s the only reason i can think of.

Kids keep hurting themselves…no one wants the liability.
