Foreshadowing is a literary device in which an author drops subtle hints about plot developments to come later in the story. An example of foreshadowing might be when a character displays a gun or knife early in the story. Merely the appearance of a deadly weapon, even though it is used for an innocuous purpose — such as being cleaned or whittling wood — suggests terrible consequences later on.

Hi,
Foreshadowing is a literary or cinematic device. It’s the art of hinting that something (usually bad) is about to happen.
The clues can be subtle or obvious. For example, in each of the Star Wars movies, someone says “I have a bad feeling about this” right before something horrible happens.
Sometimes foreshadowing work on more of a subconscious level. “The Sixth Sense” is filled with subtle hints. Same with Pulp Fiction, Harry Potter, Fight Club, etc.

To drop hints about future events. It’s a literary term. If the writer is good, you should be able to find the clues to the outcome within the story.
