Solvent abuser? That is new to me, but I like the expression and I think I will start using it. A substance abuser is someone generally who derives pleasure from the overconsumption of of mood-altering drugs or alcoholic beverages. We use substance abuse to indicate that someone is having a problem.

Solvent abuse, also known as “huffing” (i.e. sniffing gasoline, aerosol propellants, ether, etc) is considered a “cheap high”, and can be deadly.

The popularity of huffing among young people is the unfortunate result of prohibition of less dangerous drugs like cannabis, which has pushed its black market prices up to extraordinary levels. Since household chemicals are far cheaper, that’s what they use instead.

Solvent abuser means someone who sniffs glue or paint or some other paint solvents to get high.

Substance abuser means someone who uses illegal drugs such as marijuana, heroin and cocaine to get high.

Getting high means that your mind soars into strange and interesting places and you feel good all over.
