What is so great about being apart of a greek letter organization?

Going in Greek is a great first step because it allows you to meet people right away and it allows you to pay for your social life upfront. I was routinely broke in college (and now for that matter) but I never had to sit at home on a Friday night twiddling my thumbs because we always had a mixer or something going on. It opens to the door to meeting lots of people outside of your campus because if you join a national frat, they will probably have chapters at other universities in your area.
I don’t know what university you attend but, on some campuses, being Greek is pretty much mandatory. I attended a super small school for the first year and over 90% of the student population was Greek. Had I not pledged, I wouldn’t have had any social life. When I transferred to a different college, the Greek population was only about 20% and it was actually kind of frowned on by non-Greeks (guess I should have known given it was one of the most liberal universities in the country). It really depends on you and your campus but I loved being Greek (Phi Mu) and wouldn’t change it for the world.
If you do, good. If you don’t, that is no sin. There are lots of other ways be active and have a good time on campus.
