What is so great about being apart of a greek letter organization?

I am looking for answers about how important being involved on campus is to the college experience and how joining a fraternity or sorority is a great first step.

It’s super important to be involved on campus. College is about education but it’s also about the experience. I like to think of it as pre-school for grown-ups. It’s your last hurrah before you have to enter the evil real world.

Going in Greek is a great first step because it allows you to meet people right away and it allows you to pay for your social life upfront. I was routinely broke in college (and now for that matter) but I never had to sit at home on a Friday night twiddling my thumbs because we always had a mixer or something going on. It opens to the door to meeting lots of people outside of your campus because if you join a national frat, they will probably have chapters at other universities in your area.

I don’t know what university you attend but, on some campuses, being Greek is pretty much mandatory. I attended a super small school for the first year and over 90% of the student population was Greek. Had I not pledged, I wouldn’t have had any social life. When I transferred to a different college, the Greek population was only about 20% and it was actually kind of frowned on by non-Greeks (guess I should have known given it was one of the most liberal universities in the country). It really depends on you and your campus but I loved being Greek (Phi Mu) and wouldn’t change it for the world.

Depending on who you are it could be for you and it might not be. I would definatly recommend it. I went to Texas Tech and i was a Sigma Nu there but before that I was a loser freshman that didnt do anything my first year of college. Fraternities are great because you meet so many people. Girls guys new best friends, friends for life, and potential people to get you jobs when you graduate. I had an internship through one of my fraternity brothers dads. that was pretty cool. also there are parties and brother hood and i thought that it made me a better person. I didnt rush until my sophmore year and once i did i really felt like i had wasted a year. would you rather be in your dorm play video games and go to not so great parties or would you liek to hang out with girls and go to some of the best parties on campus depending on which fraternity you join and what school you go to, i would recommend it to every male and female to go greek.

check it out ahead of time – see if you like the life style, and make an honest choice if you want frat life.

If you do, good. If you don’t, that is no sin. There are lots of other ways be active and have a good time on campus.
