What does “Annotated Edition” mean in regards to textbooks?

I need to buy a text for a computer class at college, and I found a used copy that says “annotated teachers edition”. What does that mean? Is it the same info. as contained in the regular student edition?

This is much better than the student addition. It will include common problems, teaching aids and the answers. Buy it!

“Annotated Edition” means it includes various footnotes, comments, explanations, etc., that a regular edition lacks. In your book, “teachers edition” is the clue–it’s for a teacher to use in the classroom [study guides, suggested quiz topics, etc.]. There are annotated editions of many different kinds of books–even “Alice in Wonderland” has been issued in an annotated version. As long as your used computer text has the same pagination as the regular student version [i.e., so when the teacher says “read pages 25-37” you will be covering the same material as everyone else] probably no problem. Check first!

A loose leaf notebook is a 3-Ring Binder. I would imagine a loose leaf textbook would be similar. My husband wrote a book several years ago on Civil Litigation and it was published in a 3-Ring binder so that revisions could easily be added.

Teacher’s Edition is the same as the Student Text with all of the answers included.

P.S. KathyW below has made an excellent point about making sure you purchase the correct edition!

Yes. It also contains the answers to the problems and some tips for the instructor (such as which parts of a problem might be confusing and why…) Just make sure that if your class requires the 7th edition of the text book, this teacher’s edition is also the 7th edition.
