What does an “Assistant treasurer” do?
Of course the answer is obvious. But my problem is that I have applied for the post of Assistant Treasurer of a the students astronomical society. And now I have to face an interview and also make a speech based on ‘why i think im the best for this position’.
As im an engineering student i dont have much expericence in accountings either.
Please tell me what are the important things i need to mention?

treasurer of a small organization usually only has a couple of busy things to do, like harassing people to pay dues on time & figuring out where we can afford to go out when we are on our Annual Bigdeal Outing
I am guessing that the assistant position is a back-up if the other person is sick, and then also helps out during the busy time (like making calls about that dues thing), and also learns how to do the treasurer job so they can take over when the other person steps down
You are not going to need accounting experience, just be trustworthy, honest, and dependable.
