I personally love having my laptop in class..Honestly, there are times when it is sooo boring and I can check my email or surf the web, etc. I think if the teacher is doing their job of keeping the student engaged and making the class worth listening to, then they shouldn’t worry about kids having their laptops. I think it can be rude when kids are blatantly surfing the web, or they are typing like crazy when the professor really hasn’t even said anything. I don’t think laptops will ever be banned, because they are too beneficial for taking notes, etc. If schools ever do get smart enough to disengage the internet from classrooms, then good for them. It will make my time in class a little more boring though..

Pros:

1. taking more notes (for me cuz I type faster than I can write)

2. taking neater notes

3. registering for my classes if my registration time is during class

4. keeps me awake/entertained if it’s a long or boring class

Cons:

1. distraction at times, to other people as well, especially when people use it to chat during movies and documenteries

2. can’t really use it to take notes for science classes or any classes that use a lot of diagrams (unless it’s a tablet laptop)

3. makes it easy for people to copy your notes if you don’t want them to

4. can’t use your notes if it’s an open-notes test

5. you waste ink/printer paper if you decide to print them out

Well, I already know that I can’t be bringing my laptop to my classes and that’s fine with me. I could, however, still use it during breaks anywhere else in the campus and that’s mighty fine with me too. So there’s still some time for Y!A…….LOL

i have never notice a professor getting annoyed with the sound. and they arw a great help. the only time the sound getts annoying, that i can think of, is on the airplane…but it is the changing times you know
