Was the discovery of America truly a discovery by Christopher Columbus?
Favorite Answer
To have been a real “discovery”, he would have had to have had some inkling of what it was that he had found. He didn’t have a clue where he was, and didn’t have the slightest notion of the size of what he had found.
It wasn’t an invasion, because he not only did not remain, he never had the intention of doing so. It might well have been “trespassing”, but it fell far short of “invasion”.
It also wasn’t a conquest, since he exerted no more dominion and control over the hemisphere when he began the return trip than he had when he started out.
I mean no disrespect to the event, but it was mere exploration, it wasn’t any of the terms you suggested.
** “Columbus came and killed all the indians”??? If that’s true, then was Custer’s Last Stand a myth? And who the heck is running the casinos on the East Coast, elves?
after that it was the vikings who came to america.
then christopher columbus came and killed all the indians and tricked them.
