Their was this question today “What is your favorite color?” Alot of people chose “black”!
When I went to school I was taught that “black” and “white” were not colors. Is this still true?

Black is a combination of all colors. White is the absence of color. That is what I was taught in science class back when.

A Lot (2 words) think that white and black are colours (or colors if you are in the U.S.) because they are in the paint boxes and crayon boxes. However, in reality, all colours combined make white because colour is actually caused by the refraction of light and light is white. Black is the complete absense of light because there is no light to refract. It make matters more complicated, you are only seeing the light waves that are reflected back from the object the light is touching. Objects which absorb all of the light waves which hit is appear black. Objects which absorb none of the light waves appear white.
However, do not try to explain this to your art teacher or you will probably get sent to the principal’s office, like I did!

Technically black&white aren’t colors. Black is all the colors together. And White is the lack of any color. But even colors like aqua, lime, fuschia, etc. aren’t colors. They are shades & tints.
