If the length of a rectangle is 9 1/3 m and the width is 2 2/3 m, what is the perimeter of the rectangle?

how exactly would you work out the problem to get the answer? my videos for school haven’t been very descriptive and i can’t get any of my family members help. [home schooled so impossible to ask a teacher.]

Perimeter = 9 1/3 + 9 1/3 + 2 2/3 + 2 2/3

=22 + 6/3

= 22 + 2

= 24 m

Hope this helps, Twiggy

The perimeter is the length around the rectangle, so it is 9 1/3 + 9 1/3 + 2 2/3 + 2 2/3.

Perimeter = total length of all the sides of the shape

9 1/3 m X 2 (2 sides) = 18.66

2 2/3 m X 2 (2 sides) = 5.32

18.66 + 5.32 = 23.98 m

You see, you can convert the fractions into decimals to multiply them:

9 1/3 = 9.33

2 2/3 = 2.66

Then, you multiply them by two because as the shape is a rectangle, there are four sides, two of the lengths and two of the widths.

Finally, you just add the two answers (18.66 and 5.32) together to get the perimeter.

Hope I helped!
