school dress code wants to be changed how can we do it???!!?!?!!?

okay im going to this school and the dresscode is very very strict. you cant wear tank tops. or tube tops or skirts if u do wear a skirt/skort/shorts you have to put your arms down and your middle finger is how short your skirt has to be. no halter tops. no ripped jeans at all not even on the knee. nothing that has anything on the butt. or low cutt t-shirts. how can us girls&guys at our school try to change the dress code?? all the girls want to wear tank tops or halter tops but it is against the rules. and no baggy jeans u have to have belt on if your jeans are to big. if you break any of these dress codes you will be sent home for the rest of the day!!! and we are in middle school people!!! and where i live its hot. super hot.

I think that dress code is EXTREMELY reasonable. You are there to learn. Not to dress like a hoochie in short skirts and tube tops. There is nothing you are going to be able to do as a student to change that dress code. Just be happy you don’t have to wear uniforms. If anything, lobby for air conditioning throughout your school. I can’t believe some schools still don’t have AC. It’s impossible to learn when you’re sweating bullets.

Though uniforms were a gift from God in my opinion. No thought when you wake up in the morning – just roll out of bed, toss on your skirt and polo and head out the door – wonderful!

It’s hot in my school, too, and I have to abide by a dress code as well. I’m a teacher. Yes, I have to be an example. Have you ever sat at the back of a classroom to see low slung pants displaying “bootie” or someone bending over and almost “falling out”? It’s nasty and not proper for young people to be dressing like that. The halters and tank tops are taboo at my school, too but can be worn if a t-shirt is under them. The skirts/shorts/skorts need to be fingertip length, too as it makes bending over a little easier when your backside isn’t exposed. As far as the belt issue, I’ve seen kids trip over their droopy drawers and cause others to fall onto them. If there were an emergency and that happened can you imagine the added chaos? We are trying to teach young people how to be respectful, considerate, and kind to others as this is the only place some seem to get this type of training.

Everyone has to abide to a dress code whether in the classroom, office, or any other workplace. It’s for your benefit and good. Get used to it because it will follow you the rest of your life.

Hon, this isn’t a strict dress code…it’s a school, not a bar. This is just plain common sense.

You won’t be able to get it changed, sorry to say. If anything, your fighting against it will show the administration that they’re being too lenient, and they’ll tighten it up.

When you get out of school, you’ll find that the whole world has a dress code. You can’t wear pants that ride on your thighs to a college class, and you can’t wear a halter top to a job (unless you work at Hooters)…get used to it. This is by no means strict.

I’m not sure how you could change such a policy. Dress codes are needed in schools in order to get respect and give respect. I personally belive dress codes are needed and what you have as a dress code we have at our school. Even though it may be “cool” or “hot” it doesn’t mean that you have to wear such clothes to school. You have plenty of time out of school to wear the clothes you prefer.
