Need information on becoming a master electrician….?

My husband currently works as a firefighter and on his off days he works for his father who is a master electrician. My husband is not certified but has over 20 yrs experiance as a electrcians helper. When he retires he was thinking of possible going on to become a master electrician but does not know where to start. Can anyone help with information on this, we are currenlty located in Florida. Thanks

Master Electrician is a certification by State exam.

To be certified as Master Electrician it has to be previously certified as Journeyman Electrician with at least two years experience.

To be certified as Journeyman Electrician, by the State or Union trade, it has to be proved more than 5000 hrs electrical work or to be, previously, in an apprenticeship program at least 3 to 5 yrs.

Theres a test he can take if he has that much experience and know how. I think he has to take certification test first then the masters test. heres a site with a little info-I do not know exactly how valid it is though–
