dedicated mother of two

mother needs help with a beutiful young lady.?

I have a 13 yr old daughter that has been thru alot in just a short time. Diagnosed at 26 mths with leukemia then after going thru alot of heart problems. Now on top of all that, i have to put up with the schools and their BMI crap. This has set my daughter in a lot of problems just so she dosen’t get a “FAT” letter, is that not the stupid thing a school can do. they dont have enough to worry about they have to get in my daughters personal life aswell. With migraines, bulimia, stomach problems and now teeth. Can they not just leave the children to the parents to raise. I am at my wits end with this.

Actually, companies in the real world are starting to do the same thing- some are even charging overweight people more for their insurance. Plus- why is it that you would not want to encourage your daughter to be a healthy weight, so that she doesnt have health issues later on in life? Plus, this is the part that doesnt make sense to me- how can she be bulemic but overweight? Anyway, whatever. I thinkt hat encouraging students to maintain healthy weights is a good thing, especially since America is now so fat- obviously parents arent doing the job themselves.

What the F???? I’d have to say you are definitly on the right side of the argument here. That’s about the stupidest thing any school has ever done! You are absolutely right, the school has no business telling your daughter that she’s fat. Other kids do that enough. Sometimes, it’s not even a kids fault that they are fat. What does the letter say anyway? “You’re daughters too fat and if she wants to stay in school she has to lose weight”???? I don’t really have any advice for you, but I would probably move after a while of taking the schools crap. Hope you give the school what they deserve!

What in the Sam Hill is BMI and FAT? If people don’t know what you’re talking about, we can’t help you.

Have you considered home schooling? Your girl can work on the schoolwork the hours she prefers and not have to put up with as much bull hockey.

Best wishes.

It sounds to me that they truly have your daughters best interest at heart. Maybe the problems all tie in together. Has she been to see a therapist?

Good Luck!
