Medical resources for a Writer?

Hi,

I’m writing a story (possibly novel-length) in which I need to find some good medical resources for. What I mean by that is, information for things such as what would happen to someone if -insert injury here- occured, or if it were serious, what would the doctors/medics have to do to save them/would they be able to, etc etc. As well as things like, how long would someone be able to live if -insert injury here- happened, or what would be the long term effects of…. you get the picture I’m sure!!!!

I have no knowledge of these matters myself and I cant find any decent info via Google, so I’m wondering if there are any websites or (cheap!) books out there that could help me?

Thanks for any help!

🙂

Professional writers in your circumstances cultivate contacts and friends among the medical community. Perhaps your own personal physician could be a valuable resource for you, or give you leads to medical students who might be willing to assist you. Is there a medical college in your area? If so, you might start your search there.
