Looking ahead to trying to get into Boston University and wondering how I will stack up?

I am in 8th grade. I am already thinking about my future. I want to go to Boston University and become a sportswriter. I am wondering how I currently stack up against my future competetors and what I need to do to get myself in line for a merit scholarhsip because it all begins next year in high school and I wanna really spend this coming semester getting good grades as to get into the high school classes I need to get in in order to achieve this and also just to practice for getting great grades in high school. This year I got all A’s except for a B in math. I also took the SAT though I dont know what my score is. How does this stack up? What do i need to do to achieve my goals????

Ok. DO NOT listen to these people who are telling you to slack off. If you keep at the pace you’re going at now, then you may definetly be elligible for BU. Don’t stress too much, but remember that these are your four most important years. It is true that freshman year is not as important as the three years following it, but colleges would prefer to see either a consistent A, B+ record, or at least a record which shows that you have improved. So far it looks as if you’re at a good start. Just make sure if you have ANY questions in math or any subjects for that matter, you GO TO EXTRA HELP! Also, you need some extracurriculars. Sports, clubs, newspaper of course, and some type of an art class. Make sure you stand out in your art/music class though. DO NOT SLACK OFF!

yeah, don’t sweat it too much right now. Just keep your grades up so you get into good classes in high school. Just a word of advice though, when you get to high school, make sure all of your grades are good, don’t neglect any one class and think that it won’t matter since you’re not trying to go into that field. BU is a very good school and they want to see hardworking kids. But for now, you’re good to have some good, wholesome fun.

Stop worrying about your future. I like the fact that u want to think about college but there is no need to do that until soph year. Until then keep screwing around with ur friends cause once u get in hs the majority of ur time is doing hw.
