Is University of Illinois at Chicago a good school for engineering?
Favorite Answer
You cannot wait to cram for quizzes as you can at Liberal Arts schools. You cannot study just for the test and forget it as you can at Liberal Arts schools. Each class builds a knowledge base to use on the next one. There are NO throwaway classes in the engineering curriculum. You NEED the English classes in order to properly present your engineering work, whether it is a written or spoken report. It does no good to design the perfect solution to a problem if you cannot describe it and present it clearly. Some of the biggest disasters have been because the engineers could not effectively present the problems (the I35 bridge disaster is one – the engineers KNEW and TOLD people but they did not get the message across)
All of the schools you mention are excellent. One thing to know, after your first job, where you went to college is far less important than the quality of your engineering since graduation.
