Is copying the defintion to key terms out of a books glossary plagiarism?
When doing school work you are asked to read a chapter and define the key terms, is taking them out of the books glossary plagiarism?

Generally, if you take someone else’s idea and use it in your own work without properly acknowledging your sources – it is considered plagiarism.
So to answer your question, yes, that is considered plagiarism. However, for an assignment such as the one you mentioned in your question, students are not normally required to cite any sources, especially if the teacher expects you to use a particular book’s glossary. But to be on the safe side, or if you know that plagiarism is a big deal at your school, I would recommend citing the book as a reference.

Yes, but if you work it out for your self and use the glossary to check if your right, and if not understand why you are wrong and correct your self it is self assessment.

I am in a magnet high school and my teacher said in the 7th grade if your teacher knows where you got them it is okay. However, it would help you learn alot if you put the definition in your own words.
