If my class rank upon graduation was 95 of 323, what percentage did I graduate in? Like, top (blank)% of my?
Favorite Answer
It’s not as simple as 95/323.
You need to factor it into a Cumulative Probability curve.
If 1 is the best at +3.12 standard deviations and -3.12 SD’s is the worst then 162 is Z=0, SD=51.6
So:
1-2 = GENIUS
3-53 = GIFTED
54-107 = SUPERIOR
108-215 = AVERAGE
216-269 = LOW AVERAGE
270-321 = BORDERLINE
322-323 = SEVERE
With a placement of 95 you are about 1.3 SD above the norm which in a normal distribution is in the 90th percentile (the top 10%).
So my friend you graduated in the top 10% and not the top 29%.
Take it from someone in the top 2%.
I promise you… look up:
CUMULATIVE PROBABILITIES FOR THE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION.
you are in the top 30%,
you are the 29.4th % in your class.
