I’m writing something for school! What is the correct way to use dashes?
I’m typing it up on Word. This is the sentence: “I knew that this successful family reunion-and love-would hold us all together.”
Is that correct? Or is there a space between the dashes or not? Please help!

Commas would probably be better:
“I knew that this successful family reunion, and love, would hold us all together.”
Otherwise I think what you have is correct:
“I knew that this successful family reunion-and love-would hold us all together.”

Hi there! Is it a requirement to use dashes in what you’re writing? I think commas would work better. “I knew that this sucessful family reunion, and love, would hold us all together.”

i’m not sure that’s an appropriate use… Try this:
I knew a successful family reunion, and love, would hold us all together.
if you were fixed on the dashes… sorry, can’t help. 🙂
