I’m miserable at school. Will highschool ever end?

I don’t like my school very much. I just don’t fit in. I live in Virginia, and I attend one of the best schools in the country. The work is tough, we go at an insane fast pace. The kids are very well rounded, they have the looks, the brains, the money, the girls or the guys. They live what you might want to call The all american dream. It’s a preppy school mainly, not trying to sterotype here as best as I can.

And when you’re not like them, they look and treat you like you’re nothing. I have a disability in Math, and I just feel so bad. I do get A’s in B’s in everything else but Math is just difficult. I feel so stupid there.

I can’t change schools because I have so many times in the past. And I don’t want to conform either. It’s not really a question, more like a rant. I’m not in the mood for any bad comments. Does highschool ever end?

Yes it does. And your brain just works a little differently babes, so try to give yourself a break. You can fit in and still maintain your individuality. Find something they like or do that you like or do as well, and there you have it. Common ground. Doesn’t mean you have to stop being who you are. And it sounds like you’re beings so hard on yourself–surely you have some looks, some brains, and a friend or two. Sounds like you’re having a tough day, so lighten up. Go do something you love to do and put school out of your mind for a while. When you come back to it maybe it won’t seem so bad. Good luck babes.

Yes, you know it will end. It just feel like it’s going on forever. Soon you’ll graduate and you’ll never have to see any of those people again. High school is only four years and four years is not that long when you think that you might live into your 70’s. If you’re getting a passing grade in math then don’t worry about it. Unless you plan on getting into a college career that requires math. Then get a tutor, otherwise just be happy with that your getting. I know that must be hard when you do so well in other subjects, but not everyone can be good at everything all the time. Just look at math as that flaw that makes you human. 

When you get out of school, you’re going to feel so silly that you let these folks get to you.

I was the girl that had both parents working their *sses off to pay for a good school for me. I didn’t sound, look, or dress like anyone in that school and my tomboy personality was not accepted. I use to feel bad that my grades were just average when my folks were working so hard for me, but I was really trying my best. When I got out of school I realized that I was learning a lot more then academic lessons there. My folks put me in a safe place to learn and develop into the persona I am now. I’m very grateful for that even I did feel out of place. Remember you are allowing them to make you feel this way. Just stop letting them do this to you. Don’t worry about what the other kids think, just be yourself. It they don’t like it then no sweat. These people are going to mean nothing to you in a few years. Find stuff you like to do and have some fun.

I’m a juniour, and one of the smart kids, but I don’t fit it too well either b/c I’m shy and don’t talk a lot. My best friend is blind, and she’s the same way in math. She loves English, and reading, and gets good grades in everything else, but she just started going to a blind school to get some help w/ math.

You don’t have to conform, you just need to find other people who don’t seem to fit into the atmosphere at your school. There has got to be at least a couple of kids there who aren’t all preppy and well-rounded.

And yes, high school does end. Every second seems to drag by, but when you look back when you’re a senior you won’t believe it happened so fast.

Sounds like you have had a tough life man. Maybe you should change the way you act towards your actions. If you don’t change now, you will continue being a nobody and I don’t think you want that to happen. Also, suicide isn’t that answer to anything. It is a pity to see that some people think that suicide is the only way out of problems. Do not waste your life by ending it now, because many good things may happen in the future..

It does end in about 4 years. If you have problems with math, you should ask the guidance department to be tested for a learning disability. You might have to have your parent or guardian request such testing. If it does turn out that you have a learning disability, there are special programs and tutoring to help you get through.

As to fitting in, that is partially up to you. If you are in a preppy school and you do not want to dress and act preppy, you may have a difficult time. Again, I’d suggest you speak with a guidance counselor and ask for some advice. Good luck and hang in there.

Yes, it’s only 4 years. It’s only to prepare you for life in the outside world. Everyone has trouble in one or more subjects. You don’t have to be like them. Be happy you aren’t like them. I was a loner in highschool, but I graduated, (Barely). Find something that makes you happy to do in your spare time. And you will just have to learn to not let what–those freaks say to you–get to you. YOu have a whole life ahead of you. If you can’t handle what they’re doing, how are you going to do it in the real world? Just learn to cope and remember you are better than them, no matter how much money you have, how you look, or how smart you are. Because you are grounded. Money does bad things to some people. Remember what goes around comes around, when they are in the real world, they will be treated like they are treating you. I trully believe that, I have seen it too many times. Remember High School is just apause in your life until you are an adult. Then the rest of your life is ahead of you. Good luck, and take care.

just tough it out, i have never been able to fit in either but things get better once you go to college. so keep your head up. you can get past high school and when you look back it will feel like the time just went so fast. don’t worry!

also don’t pay attention to all those people who give you a hard time, remember the best revenge is success and you can do it!

You need to change your attitude. Every HS has clubs and groups for everyone. Do you play an instrument? Join the band. Look for a club that appeals to you. There are even just groups that discuss movies or meet in a teacher’s classroom to discuss various topics. Ask your counselor about what’s available. Decide to make this a better year for yourself and you will be much happier.

Yes high school does end. As a graduate just last year I understand all of the ups and downs that high school can bring. The biggest thing is to try to be yourself and if people don’t like that, there’s no point in wanting to be friends with them anyways. Just be happy with who you are and not what people want you to be.

High school does end. I always hated math, and was never good at it too. I got a tudor, it worked all right, I’m not all that great even now. But just keep your head up… college is a lot better.
