Age doesn’t matter, actually. You could have 116 at 8, as you can hold on your 116 when you’ll be 20.
100 is the “average” above 100 means that you are smarter than the average, as bellow 100 means… well, you see?

Actually IQs are adjusted for age. The formula is: mental age divided by actual age times 100. The average is 100, so you scored 16 points above the average 12 year old. And yes that is good. A 116 means you performed better than about 68% of your peers.

Don’t put to much emphasis on his or hers IO. IQ test do more harm then good .They can’t be accurate do to they can’t possibly generalize them enough. knowledge is based on 2 things. 1) memory 2) comprehension. Every one is capable of becoming a brain surgeon .It would just take some longer to achieve this . One thing I will tell you is the best thing you can do for a child is to always build there confidence but never push!
