How to improve my grades??

So, Im in high school now and everything I do will effect me getting in to a college. I’m home schooled on the computer, I am also ADHD and find it hard to concentrate on school work. I give 100 percent into my school work [studying, reading the material], yet I still get OK grades. I don’t want C’s, I want B’s and A’s. To get into the college I want to go to, I must keep a 3.0 or above to get in. I went in the school to get help a few times, but they just throw me a calculator, and say problem solved. My mom can’t help because she doesn’t know half of what I ask. How can I get better grades when I’m already trying my best?? Thanks

I don’t have ADHD, but on an almost equal field, in high school I was just apathetic towards school and work. I didn’t care and wasn’t interested. Then came college where for the most part, I was allowed to learn what I wanted to learn. No more classes I wasn’t interested. Thats not to say I didn’t have to take courses which were boring…I did. But by being allowed to learn what I wanted to learn I became instantiously more interested in school and my GPA skyrocketed. Where I am going with this is if I were you, I would focus on finding subjects you are interested in. For me by focusing on something I wanted to learn I was able to improve my interest and focus and accordingly, my grades. This is hard to do in high school, but what you can do is try and make something boring or hard more interesting, and if you can make it more interesting to you, I think you will find your grades are much better.

It might not be your fault. You may be learning disabled. My sister was like you. She tried really hard, but barely passed. The rest of her 4 sisters did not have any trouble making A’s. She had a couple of mishaps when she was young that may have affected her ability to learn. Did anything happened to you when you were young? You can have a learning disability even without a mishap. I would, however, concentrate on spelling and grammar more. Good Luck!
