I took your 5442 miles, converted it to 8760km.

Average male is 177cm, average female 163 — I split the difference and said 170cms average. In km, that comes out at 0.0017km.

So, assuming they lay end to end, feet to head, then

8760 / 0.0017 = 5,152,941 people. But lets allow them to stretch out as little. People hate other people’s feet in their hair, if you allow them to hold onto the people above them’s ankles.

That lets us round down to around 5 million people, which I think is a more understandable number for a kid.

Remember “Hands across America”? I would do a search on that. They estimated how many people it would take, I believe. That would at least give you an idea of Ca to east coast. Figure that distance and the distance to England.

L.A. To London is 5933 miles

5933 miles is 31326240 feet

An Average persons arm-span is about 5 feet.

31326240 / 5 = 6265248

So, about 6,265,248 people

If you used 5442 miles.. 5,746,752 people

…..and a little more than half are treading water
