Try to finish. I know it’s tough but it is such an accomplishment. I left school at 18 b/c I didn’t take 12th grade seriously and it is a HUGE regret. Yes a GED is a real diploma and I have a great career and make good money but it is the fact that I went all the way through school and quit right before the finish line. Tell someone (a good teacher, principle) at school they WILL help you! When people ask when I graduated I don’t know what too say, because I hate to say I quit.

Whatever you decide, best of luck!

The GED is given under the direction of your state education department. There are testing centers usually located in high schools. There should be one near you. There are also various programs, many of which are free to help you prepare for the examination. Your school should be able to give you the location as well as the age requirement if there is one in your state.

That being said the GED is really a inferior product. While it is billed as the legal equivalent to a high school diploma it is very far from being the same. Many companies will not accept the GED. Everyone knows that a few hour test does not equal a four year diploma. No one is fooled.

The other answers advised you to continue with your regular high school They are correct. Why is school not really working out for you? Speak to your parents and to you guidance counselor. If you want anonymity then post the question or the problem here.

Good luck

I was a GED instructor. STAY IN SCHOOL! The GED is hard!! GED Prep class is hard and annoying much of the time!

Yes, there are situations going on that are causing it not to work out for you right now but they are able to be resolved or at least better tolerated until graduation. Talk to a guidance counselor, trusted teacher, friend or teacher aide, a pastor or priest may help as well. There are websites with message boards/forums that can help you figure out more how to handle this situation.
