homecoming?

I am going to be a freshman in high school this year and i was wondering about homecoming. what exactly is it? is it like prom where like everybody has a date? also should i wear a shorter dress? and also, haha, do freshman usually go to homecoming?

well basically homecoming is the first dance of the school year. its a lot less formal then prom you where dresses but not over the top. people usually where shorter dresses and usually have dates but its not nessesary to have one. and every grade is allowed to go. and 2 people from each grade are voted on the homecoming court. its really fun i would advise going!
