help english paper?

I am writing a paper and then a speech (I am a junior in HS) on the following subject:

In some high schools, many teachers and parents have encouraged the school to adopt a dress code that sets guidelines for what student can wear in the school building. Some teachers and parents support a dress code because they think it will improve the learning environment in the school. Other teachers and parents do not support a dress code because they think it restricts the individual student’s freedom of expression. In your opinion, should high schools adopt dress codes for students?

So if you could give me some suggestions on how to write or present it

If you are saying yes to having school uniform, why don’t you give the speech in school uniform.

When writing it – think about reasons why – each reason should have one reason why and then expand on it. The paragraphs could be something like:

Improves sense of belonging, spirit, to school – everyone is the same, at school carnivals, matches everyone wears school colours, on excursions everyone is easily identifiable

Improves school learning – no-one is wasting time on what they are wearing, not wearing

stops school bullying – everyone is wearing the same thing, there isn’t a group of people who wear the labels, no-one is wearing inferior clothes

Make sure that you put a conclusion that wraps it all up.

First, you need to decide your position: Are you pro dress code or against it? Once you choose, you need to do a little research: How could restricting what students wear improve the learning environment? or, on the opposite side, Freedom of expression in dress should not be restricted because…..

Whichever side you chose, make a list of reasons for your opinion. Map them, then add a list of facts or examples that support your reasons. Both your paper and your speech can come from this map.

Don’t forget to throw in a quote or 2 from respected community members who hold the same view as you do.

Good luck!
