I commend you for getting out of sports, first of all. PE class and regular exercise and healthy eating will get you a lot further in life than sports. Yes, it teaches SOME teamwork and discipline but lots of other things do as well. Don’t let the coach or your friends talk you in to joining the team if you are wanting to focus on school. Doing well in school will get you many more opportunities in life than playing sport ever will. If you want to do well in school, then do all of your homework the best that you can and ask for additional help when you need it. There is nothing wrong with asking the teacher or your peers for help. Be attentinve and on-time for classes. If math is hard for you, get a tutor to help you or ask other “smart” kids how they study the subject. Sit in the front of your classes. This eliminates distractions and helps you be more attentive. Always develope open, honest and respectful communication with your teachers. And, study music. Taking regular music lessons long term will, in fact, stimulate the brain cells and teach you the necessary discipline needed for analytical thinking and reasoning. And, music is something that you can always have with you and DO into old age—-sports events are only things you can watch in old age. Think about it, and good luck.

Buy yourself a tape recorder. That way when the teacher is lecturing you can record it and then listen to it at school and learn the subject at your own pace.
