I have taken several on line classes and the answer to your questions really depends on what type of class you are taking. Some on line classes encourage class participation in the form of forums and “chat” rooms. Others just give out a list of all of your classmates email addys (will permission of course) and you can communicate that way. On line classes are designed for self motivated people but they also have deadlines and some quizzes that help those who need motivation to do the work. You are not entirely on your own. Some on line classes even have downloads of the lectures your instructor gave to a traditional class if you need the verbalization. In all honesty it just depends on the type of class you are in and how they decide to do the class. One of the best things about on line classes, is that you get to broaden your horizons by meeting people from other places, sometimes even from other countries. Good luck.

I have taken many online classes. For some you need to buy books. The primary way to succeed in on line classes is to follow the instructions. Most want intearaction on line between students. Make at least two responses each day and you are bound to get a good grade if the responses are intelligent. Just saying good, cool, yes or no does not really work. You will learn through the comments by other students and the critiques by the instructor.

I took an online math class if you can learn independently and not have to turn the homework in in order to learn then its great….it didnt work out very well for me because I only did the assignments that were required..most of the book work is not…. I also took oceanography and ethics online in highschool the oceanography class was fun but i didnt like the ethics…it just mainly depends on what type of things you like and how you learn the material

You will need your books. Usually the prof will give you as a class, discussion threads to respond to in a forum. Just read your assignments, post your threads and be ready for your tests (my experience was that the tests were easy since we could use our books). Good luck.

Most Likely you will have to buy book(s). It will depend on the course.

You will have a class proctor that will provide lectures, interact in discussion, and give feedback. However, it will be up to you to read and understand the material.

yes you’ll still need to buy books..the content of the class can vary. Sometimes there are lectures you just read, sometimes there are power point presentations, sometimes audio lectures. I’ve had group activities, lots of written work, papers….
