The Jersey Devil is a creature reported to have inhabited the New Jersey Pinelands woods. The birth date of the legend ranges between 1735-1887. The general description of the jersey devil is a flying biped with hooves. It is usually expressed as being around three foot tall and sometimes emits a human-sounding cry. The Devil most commonly leads to Leeds Point and Pine Barrens.
• Leeds point is now identified as Atlantic City. The name “Leeds” is often connected with the creature. Some say that the mother was named Leeds; others say that the birth took place at Leeds Point. For this reason the monster is sometimes known as the “Leeds Devil”.
• Pine Barrens is a heavily forested area covering 1.1 million acres (4,500 km²) of coastal plain across southern and central New Jersey. This is the wooded area where most of the sightings have occurred. The Pine Barrens is in Ocean County, it’s about 25 miles north of Atlantic City. In conclusion sightings range from Atlantic City to Ocean City.
