Vivisection is wrong! We do not share biology with a frog, cat, dog, or pig, so why must they suffer and die in order for a high school student to learn anything other than disgust, and mom will or won’t write you a note to get out of class that day.

The National Anti-Vivisection Society is dedicated to abolishing the exploitation of animals used in research, education and product testing

High School biology is the first step in training to becoming some kind of scientist or doctor. Before taking a course in biology you must first ask yourself this same question. You must also realize that if you take the course you will probably end up disecting ‘more than likely’ a frog.

Medical universities use human beings called ‘cadavers’ to perform operations on. Without these poor souls who donate their body to medical science we would be in a sad state of affairs when it came to surgical procedures that often save our lives. It’s ironic in a way. The dead often save the life of the living.

I think they usually use animals that we’re already ailing from some sickness or other, except for frogs and worms which are too small for people to care about.

This reminds me of that episode of South Park where they mixed up the deliveries of the live manatees and the animals they were gonna dissect… hahaha… sorry, but that was a good one.

If you sincerely have a personal belief against dissecting animals, respectfully let the teacher know and request an alternative assignment that applies to the subject/section you are learning about. However, use personal beliefs cautiously and honestly, not to get out of an assignment that you consider boring or gross!

I think it is better than dissecting people :S

I don’t see why they can’t have manufactured animals to dissect simply because it’s not as if you have to be extremely technical. Like stuffed frogs or something probably wouldn’t be that hard to make out of some kind of plastic stuff.
