Do you or have you attended this school?

I’m currently a student at the International Academy of Design and Technology. I’m a soon-to-be former student at IADT. When I went through the enrollment process last summer, I was told to have a graduation date in March 2008 by my admission’s rep. I was also presented with how much the Associate’s and Bachelor’s program costs. My Associate’s program was quoted at $34,000 and change. I take 3 classes. I’ve already taken out $34,000 in loans for October 2006-June 2007. I renewed and took out loans for July 2007-March 2008. Well I was informed last night that hey, I’m not graduating in March, I’m actually graduating NEXT September. News to me…4 quarters in and I just now find this out and also find out I have an internship? My parents and I are infuriated. They want to take legal action because instead of me paying around $34,000 for my schooling, it’s going to come out to double what I was initially told. I’ve also heard about class action lawsuits against my school this afternoon.

http://www.ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp is the Dept of Education website where you can check the accreditation of schools. Acording to the site it is a legitimate school. Don’t you have a counselor/advisor you had to meet with or a course plan?

In the same boat you are. This school isn’t accredited by any regional body, price is double to triple the price of a real university or com college, and requires no kind of certifications for its instructors. The admissions reps are deceptive and don’t divulge any true info about the school. Which location did you attend?

none of those online universities are real. Ive never heard of it. Complaints are on the rise about schools like that. There are many diff types of accreditation, most people dont understand that.

Class action lawsuits against such schools are worthless, as they have attorneys who attended real schools on their staff.

Stick to the traditional Universities. Theyre less expensive and they get the job done.

Universities like you are describing are FOR PROFIT BUSINESSES. If you talk to a counsellor there, it is a SALESPERSON.

Hmmm… toughie I would say hire a lawyer, have him contact the school, and let them know, either you graduate as promised in march or they prepare for legal action and lots and lots of press. As they will find themselves on every message board and blog that will listen, on Dateline , CNN, Fox and anyone else who will listen. Admissions will suffer with lots of press. Worth a try. good luck
