Do i have a good GPA?

I am a freshman in highschool and i ended up with a 4.2. I have always wanted to go to UCLA and i slacked off towards the end of the year. I know that if i do well next year i could possibly end my sophomore year with a 4.6 gpa. Do the UCs look ONLY at the UC gpa or at the total academic gpa as well? What would be a GPA that would nearly guarantee an acceptance into a college of that level? thanks

No. You have a terrible GPA. Just kidding. You know how your GPA looks. Trying to get someone on yahoo answers to say congratulations is pretty lame.

Colleges look a large number of things. GPA, school activities, community service, how much you volunteer, etc.

UCLA isn’t some exclusive university. Its entrance standards are pretty low. You will have no problem getting in as long as you keep up your performance.

Added: Most colleges only look at your unweighted GPA. Your weighted GPA of 4.2 will be revised to your unweighted GPA.

I also thought that a 4.0 was generally accepted as the highest GPA. However, I do seem to remember that some schools base theirs on a different scale and may be higher. I don’t know what it would be, though.

The highest you can get is a 4.0! That is a straight A student. You need to be taught the grade averages first.
