Can I skip my last two years of high school?

: )

I’m in all AP classes and I was wondering if i get my GED or just graduate early. My mom said that way i could get into college earlier, but i dunno . :p

don’t get me wrong, I’m not stupid enough to drop out when i have all this going for me, but still. Do i have to be 18 to get a GED? and even if i did would colleges see that to be as good as a HS diploma?

U probably have several options: how many credits do u need to graduate is my first question? Because a diploma can never be taken away, while more and more univ/colleges r willing to accept GED… many still don’t weigh it as heavily…

R u taking the AP testing for college credit? Our state offers kids free tution while in the 11 th and 12th grade and the kids are getting college credit and high school credit at the sametime. It’s enough of challenge to keep gifted going and the potential drop outs to stay with school because they r earning college credit for their tech careers… They have online courses, hs courses that meet 1 or 2 times a wk on campus, others go to night /day school at the local comm college.

Now in many states like Calif have testings where u can test out and exit their school system. Many go on to their local community college or technical/trade school because they know exactly what they want.

Other states and schools r offering students go to HS for 5 yrs and graduate both with HS Diploma and an Assoicate Degree. all tution is free. they only have books expense and some even offer the courses on HS or they attend college never setting foot on hs campus.

Unless ur unhappy with HS I would enjoy my time and graduate early. Don’t rush to go off to college b4 ur ready! Because once u leave HS u can’t get back what u missed socially and emotionally…

Contact ur Board of Education. Many times HS counselors don’t know of the programs that are open to most students. Good luck. By the way I know of a girl who took AP all through hs and went to college. She finished college in two years because she had so many credits to put her into her career field so at 19 she has bachelors and is working on Masters… good luck

Dont get your GED when you can get a diploma. GED’s are for drop outs and not looked as good upon as if you had a regular diploma. Anywho looking to open campus courses that you can take during the summer. They will help you graduate earlier. Also you could take the option of finishing school on time but taking college courses. Some local community college’s allow high school students to take classes and graduate with associate degree’s etc. During my high school graduation ceremony a year ago some students were awarded their college degrees along with their high school diploma’s. That looks great on a job resume. Plus you can always apply to the college of your choice and continue your education.

I’m a little confused by the way you describe this. You say that your high school covers the equivalent of U.S. junior college, yet you are suggesting that your last year of high school would end at 16? Then you say that next year would be the last year of secondary school for you, but only the second year of high school in the U.S.? That would seem to imply that secondary school is worth less than U.S. high school. I know that in the U.K., it is the case that finishing the A-levels is the equivalent of community college, but they tend to finish much later than that, like at 19 or 20. I can’t see most U.S. schools admitting a sixteen-year old without a diploma, especially in something like business, which requires much more understanding of society, as opposed to math or science, for which you really only need to understand your subject matter. I don’t know what an Adcom is, but Penn turns down many people with perfect SATs (so does Caltech, by the way, so I can’t imagine that your friend got in on SATs alone), so you would have to have much more to show them. Penn only takes something like 50 undergraduates a year, so they are unlikely to make exceptions to rules unless it was clear that the individual involved was truly extraordinary, not just someone with a good SAT score.

If you work really hard, you can graduate your junior year. You can get your GED anytime, but it doesn’t look as good. You get extra money for graduating early, nothing for your GED.

skipping 2 years of high school and going straight to college that is all good but most people in college will be way older then you and you’ll just have a hard time,
