Stay in liberal arts. The math course shouldn’t be too hard. If they are, have somebody take them for you.

I think you’re going to have to take math at least through the Algebra level to be a teacher — that is IF it’s not a math teacher anyway, that you want to be.

I think this is true for just about any degree, even something like Social Work or Psych.

Get a tutor at school, people put their names up on the board all the time offering their tutoring services, and math tutors are always around. At least to help you get through the classes.

It all depends on what type of teacher you want to be- a middle school teacher generally has to be certified in 2 areas (at least in NC), so you could certify in Language Arts and Social Studies. If you want to be a high school teacher, you only need to certify in one area. I did this coursework and it only required one math class- “Math for Elementary School Teachers”- literally the whole semester was about rounding numbers and basic multiplication. That is the only math class I have taken since high school. Yay!

Think of math as a “challenge” to overcome instead of a struggle – it’s such a negative word. Otherwise take a trip to antarctic plenty of degrees there! – no math required 😉
