A question about where the period goes when using ( ) ?

Does it go at the end of the sentence. Example, ( a complete random sentence.) or ( some complete sentence). And is there a easy way to remember where it goes.

it goes with the sentence.

if the whole sentence is parenthetical, it goes outside.

if the parenthesis are not around the whole sentence, it goes on the inside.

I jumped over the (yellow) fence. (The blue one was too tall.)

in a case like this the parenthesis (or whatever) are not around the whole sentence (or whatever).

If the sentence begins and ends inside the (), the period goes inside. If the parenthesis are in only part of the sentence, then the period goes outside the parenthesis (like this).
