All that matters at 26 is:
You’re not in jail.
You’re not divorced.
You’re not unemployed.
You’re not deep in debt.
You know you’re not going to be in the exact same place, doing the exact same thing, and remaining the same year after year.
As long as you’re not stuck in your current situation, you’re fine.
The average person who attends college does so right after high school, so would be three or four years out by the time he or she is 26.
Many do get married at that age, but the average age of first marriages is getting higher, so it’s not likely that the 26 year-old would be.
I think an average 26 year-old would have a job, be living in his or her own apartment, possibly with a roommate, but maybe alone, and be working to get out of the debt he or she may have picked up in school or buying a car.
