Word Problem Help?
A school district purchases a printer for $25000. After 10 years, it will need to be replaced. Its value at that time will be $2000. Write a linear equation giving the value V of the equipment during the 10 years it will be used. Determine the year in which the value of the equipment is $15000.

You need to find the slope, which is change in value over change in years. So that’s (25000 – 2000) over (0 – 10)
which is 23000/-10 or -2300
So the equation is V = -2300 t + 25000 where V = value and t = time in years. The 25000 in the equation is from the fact that when t = 0, the V is 25000.
Now just put 15000 for V getting 15000 = -2300 t + 25000
Subtract 25000 from both sides then divide by -2300
Hope that makes sense
