I have an informative speech due in a few weeks and I can’t think of an interesting topic. I don’t really want overused or political topics, so can anyone suggest something fun or entertaining? thanks!

i took speech over the summer and i can give you some suggestions, i personally did mine on a recipe from another culture, you can also do it on what you want to be, like if you want to be a vet you could do it on animal diseases or on issues such as eating disorders things of that sort, hmm or even something like weather like how hurricanes are formed or like if you ever went to another country you can write about the ppl and the culture there, there are many options! For my speech class, a long time ago, a guy did his speech on instantenous combustion. It was so interesting I still remembered it. Instantenous combustion is the term used for when people just suddenlt combust and all that’s left is their ashes. No bones or nothing!
I did my speech on the joy of eating at Denny’s. I used to work there and I gave lots of examples and ample info about how dirty and nasty it was. And how people shouldn’t eat there. I got an A on it.

I like stanley’s idea about the movie ratings. To make it more interesting, look at how ratings differ in other countries. For example, in Europe violence is emphasized over sex. So, a really bloody movie would have a more strict rating than one with some mild sex scenes. Just the opposite here. You can even take that back to our Puritan ancestors!

Talk about what you know about. The more you know about your topic the better the speech is and the less time you need to prepare the dialogue. If you know it well, you should be able to address it with minimal queue cards giving you more opportunity for good eye contact with your audience.

How about how they come up with movie ratings. You could give examples of different movies that were rated G, PG, PG13, and R and then tell why. I did a speech on this once and it was interesting and fun. Good luck!

If you watch a lot of TV, or love movies, you could do a report/speech on something that has to do with that, that has a moral or someting, and kind of relate back to it, you know?

What about the phenomenon of social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace? You could do a little research on what social scientists have noted as consequences and implications of these sites being so popular.
