Utah is known for some of its natural beauty and other features, and because that encourages outdoor recreation, those things are reasons to move there. Mountains, lakes, and desert formations and desert scenery, some of which is unique.

If you’ve never been out of Utah, some things set it apart from other population centers…

Maybe because there are no large valleys with population centers, smog is unusual in Utah.

A couple of other things relevant to the predominant religion in Utah, the Mormon church, make the cities of Utah a bit different: they are clean and quiet, with little public drunkenness. The cities seem to be well planned, so that getting around is simple: few diagonal streeets. An address will generally tell you a destination’s location and therefore its distance in miles from a starting point. The communities are cohesive, probably due to the influence of the church, and community aid and mutual assistance are commonplace.

I’m sorry I don’t actually know where the influence of the church ends.

Several of the points above are valid. I’ve lived in Utah for most of my life. Here are the biggest reasons that I think people live here:

1. Family-friendly communities with low crime.

2. Four distinct seasons.

3. Beautiful scenery, with lots of outdoor recreation for both summer and winter.

4. Religious influence. Although Mormon culture is stronger in some places than in others. In general, I don’t think you’d find it pushed on you.

Other perks:

1. Nicely organized road system.

2. Job market is good.

3. Great colleges.

Reasons why people don’t like Utah:

1. Rude drivers.

2. Strong Republican thinking.

3. The drinking laws [not impossible to get a drink, but more difficult]

4. Snow and smog in winter.

5. Lack of fine-dining choices [although this is improving]

If you have kids, be sure to check out the area schools. Some areas have large class sizes or classes where a large number of the children don’t speak English, which many parents are concerned about.

I moved to Utah 2 months ago..not my choice!

I can tell you the reasons not to live in here.

Rude drivers, more crap on the highway that ever had seen anywhere! Cut you off when ever, drive way to fast, and don’t care about there cars/trucks. If your lost, forget it you will never find your way back!

To many people!

Mormens are rude and pushy! They will not give you the time of day without you looking or acting like them.

Address are to long and don’t make sences!

OMG God the smog sucks! You can’t breath!

The elementary school system sucks!

Taxes on everything! I’m pretty sure I’m bening taxed on typing this.

Don’t move to Utah! Run! I’m going to!
